Today I am back to share some cards I made with the new Spellbinders Reversible Royal Court die set. I call these powerful Valentines cards as I have used non-traditional and bold colors. If we can make Christmas cards in colors other than red and green, we can make Valentines cards in colors other than red and pink, right?
My first card shows the king and queen from the die set posing next to each other. This is a 5×7 card and I created a yellow cardpanel. I stamped two sentiments on the top and the bottom of the cardpanel from a Kaiserkraft stamp set and embossed them with gold embossing powder. The space inbetween the two sentiments, I filled with another piece of cardstock in the same color that I had dry embossed with a Spellbinders embossing folder from a previous monthly club. I added the king and queen to the card with foam tape so that they are popped up some.
My next card is a very bold one. I made two versions of the court guard as this die set allows the characters to be reversed. Using the same yellow as in my previous card for the cardpanel, I then added a second layer of black shimmer cardstock. I found a sheet of this paper at Hobby Lobby recently when I was looking for paper for the congregational Christmas cards that I had made and decided to give it a try. After adding the layers to a 5×7 cardbase, I glued on the reversible court guards to the left of the card.
Using a previous Spellbinders release that creates friendship bracelets, I adapted the bracelet concept to create my sentiment down the right side of the characters. I stamped the letters in Versafine Onyx Black ink and then embossed them with clear embossing powder before cutting them out with the coordinating die.
The sentiment on the outside reads “Any way I look at it” and when the card is opened it says “I love you” I consider this to be a powerful Valentines Day card as it does not use one traditional Valentines Day color.
My final card is somewhat girly, but still powerful in that it shows a queen with a sword and a shield. This would be a card for the strong woman in someone’s life. I used a magenta cardpanel on the A2 sized cardbase and then added a purple layer that I cut at an angle at the bottom of it.
The angled bottom of the queen was placed along that line. I cut some hearts and the sentiment using the same purple foil cardstock that I used for her crown and necklace. The sentiment is done with the Spellbinders Thanks Enclosed die set. I did not use the shadow piece.
I will surely be revisiting this die set as there are so many possibilities that it offers with all the little things that the characters can hold. I used the palettes from the Color Catalog to help with the color choices in each of these cards using palettes #020, #205 and #209.

Wow, many different ideas. So interesting. So many little things you used to put the card together. I like the bracelet idea on the second card. I like the paper cut at an angle on the last card, very effective.
Always amazing what you create. 🙂
