Four beautiful Sunflower Cluster card variations for Mother’s Day

This is the Friday before Mother’s Day here in the US and so it is only natural for me to show you the cards I made using the Waffle Flower Sunflower Cluster die and stencil set. This was the perfect product to use for my May 2025 Shop My Stash post as I had never used it before. The set is a large die that cuts out the sunflowers and has a coordinating stencil that allows one to color the image.

4 cards for Mother's Day using the Sunflower Cluster die and stencil set

Using Hammermill cardstock, I cut the die out 4 times and chose four different color schemes for my flowers. I wanted one to be a traditional, yellow sunflower. However, the others needed to be fantasy sunflowers in various colors. I created a pink version, a purple version and a teal version.

Using my Memento die inks and blending brushes, I cycled through the four stencils for each Sunflower Cluster. Using my Waffle Flower grip mat to hold both my die cut and the various stencils, I was able to blend the ink on quickly.

I recommend die cutting first as it is easier to line the stencil up to the die cut than it is to line the die cut up to the stenciled image. The die is quite solid! These cards are to be congregational Mother’s Day cards and so I created more sets of the 4 variations so that the cards were similar, but not exactly the same.

Using my color wheel, I used the complementary color scheme to choose a background color for each flower. I added each colored panel to a top-folding A2 notecard and then glued the Sunflower Cluster directly to the cardpanel. The cards were completed by creating a sentiment in Silhouette Studio and then adding an offset cut line. I foiled the printed sentiments and then also cut a second set of sentiment shapes so that I could glue them behind the sentiment for some added dimension.

  1. Beautiful. The colours complement each other so well. The flowers show so many little details, so effective. And the backgrounds are lovely too. Such happy cards. 🙂
