Starting with an easy diamond painting project

Good morning from Arizona. It is Friday again, and today I want to show you something a little different. I have often looked at diamond painting projects on social media and thought that I would love to try it myself someday.

My first ever diamond painting project

A friend and I went for a walk around Hobby Lobby some time ago (always a dangerous exercise), and they had a plethora of diamond painting projects on sale. I found a pack with these two feathers in it, and I thought that would be perfect for a test run. They were big enough for me to try it out, but not so big that I would be busy with it forever.

Diamond painting works in a similar way to “paint by numbers” that we did as kids. The item is covered with adhesive, which is revealed when you peel off the release paper. The project came with all the “diamonds” needed, and you place them over the corresponding numbers on the design. The first feather is in tones of pink and purple. It was definitely a very relaxing project, perfect to accompany an audiobook.

The second feather is brighter and also has some variation in the size of the gems. I love the blues and yellows combined with the pink and purple on this feather. The project pack also included two chain hangers and a large “crystal” which, although clear, reflects the colors of each feather beautifully. I added one to each feather and called the project done.

I certainly enjoyed this different kind of project. Diamond painting is a very relaxing pastime, and I may well try my hand at another one in the future when my friend and I take another trip through Hobby Lobby. While this is not exactly fiber art, it is also not paper, so it found a home in that category.

  1. Something interesting, something new. Never seen this. Thank you for sharing. I love the colour schemes. And beautiful done. No the ‘crystal’ rounds it off nicely. 🙂
