Happy Friday! Today I am showing off two cards that I made using the new Spellbinders Collaged Birds collection, more specifically the embossing folders from the collection. One is called Soaring and the other is called Scribbled Letter. I created a card with each one trying different inking techniques with them. I had used the Soaring embossing folder in a previous project with the cardstock chicken.

For my first card, I used the Collaged Birds Soaring 3D embossing folder. I embossed a piece of white cardstock and then cut it down to 3.75×5 inches. Using a sponge dauber and Black Soot Distress Oxide ink, I moved the sponge very lightly over the birds to accentuate them. This requires a light hand. I added that embossed panel to a 4×5.25 inch piece of burgundy cardstock and then added that whole panel to a top-folding A2 cardbase. I completed the card with a die cut “hugs” sentiment from the Spellbinders Everyday Sentiments die set.

My second card uses the Scribbled Letter embossing folder from the Collaged Birds collection. I used my Memento dye ink to ink up the flat side of the embossing folder in a mid green color. When the cardstock goes through the die cut machine in the embossing folder, the ink is pressed into the “valleys” of the embossing. I then cut the panel down to 3.75×5 inches and glued it to a 4×5.25 panel of green cardstock. The cardbase here is also a top-folding A2 cardbase. The word “thanks” is also from the Spellbinders Everyday Sentiments die set. This is a great font for single word sentiments.

Thank you for visiting with me again today. I look forward to seeing you all next week again.

Such an interesting technique and lovely backgrounds. I like both cards very much.
The birds on the first card are so effective by accentuating them.
And the beautiful sentiments rounds off the wonderful project. 🙂
