Beautiful Blooms by Simon Hurley

Happy Friday! The weeks roll by so quickly, but I am back again this week with another project for Spellbinders. They have been very kind to me lately and today I am showing off the new Beautiful Blooms Stamp and Die set designed by Simon Hurley. I had been privileged to work with one of his previous sets with Spellbinders called Butterfly Kisses and I enjoyed this set as much.

I made three cards. I stamped three of the flowers in the set out onto Strathmore Toned Tan paper with Versafine Onyx Black ink and once it was dry, I colored the images with my Prismacolor colored pencils. Strathmore Toned Tan paper is my favorite kraft colored paper to use with my pencils. I also stamped out three of the little critters in the stamp set and colored them up. Once I had finished all the coloring, I cut the images out with the coordinating dies. They are easy to line up and they cut well.

Similar design for each

Using more Spellbinders products, I cut ovals of three different colors using the Essential Ovals set. I like this oval shape with the long sides. It seems to make it easier to use it for a focal image matte on a card. Using the Tile Reflections 3D embossing folder, I embossed the cardpanels for each of the three cards on white cardstock. I placed the cardpanels on side-folding white A2 cardbases and then added the relevant ovals.

Completing the cards

I die cut each of the image shapes out of a thicker kraft cardstock and glued them behind the images that were cut out of the toned tan to give them a bit of dimension and stability. I then added a flower and a critter to each of the colored ovals. I completed the card with a hugs sentiment from the Everyday Sentiment die set which I cut out of kraft cardstock.

Take a look at Simon’s new release – there are flowers and some sweet characters to choose from. All links are in the table below.

I received the Beautiful Blooms Stamp and Die set, the Essential Ovals die set and the Tile Reflections 3D embossing folder from Spellbinders in order to create with. I purchased all the other products used in this project myself.
