4 Inspiring Ways to Use the New Hero Arts Vintage Vinyl Collection

Today marks a first for me – this is my first project creation blog post for Hero Arts. It has been a while since Spellbinders acquired Hero Arts, but I have never worked with Hero Arts products before. This month’s new release includes the Vintage Vinyl Collection, and that is what I am sharing with you today. I know we date ourselves when we reminisce about our old vinyl record players, so let’s take a step back in time together.

My first card uses the Hero Arts Drop the Needle die set. I cut the record from shades of pink cardstock and the record arm and speed controller from shades of teal. This is a 5×7 card, and the record fits perfectly into the top left corner. I stamped the record label and sentiment with the Hero Arts Solid Gold Stamp Set using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I kept this card simple because the large record naturally takes center stage.

The next card uses the Hero Arts Record Collection die set. I cut the sleeve from patterned paper and the record from two shades of yellow cardstock. The sentiments also come from the Solid Gold Stamp Set. I stamped the sentiment on the record with Versafine Onyx Black ink, then stamped another sentiment on the record sleeve with Versamark ink before heat embossing it in white. The background is embossed using the Spellbinders Musical Notes Embossing Folder. Finally, I positioned the record inside the sleeve so the completed design fit perfectly on my 5×7 card.

The third card returns to the Hero Arts Drop the Needle die set. This time I used the coordinating Hero Arts Drop the Needle stencil. I cut the record from black cardstock before inking the shine with Picket Fence Distress Ink. The bottom of the label was inked with Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide ink, and I was fascinated by how the red appeared purple against the black cardstock. I inked the top of the label with Mustard Seed. The stencil makes it easy to ink both the shine and the label on the record. I used a piece of patterned paper for the card panel and placed the record in the corner. Using the Classic Mouse Wedding die set, I changed the dress colors to create a Flamenco dancer. Some foot and arm surgery was necessary to make her look as though she was dancing instead of simply standing still. I completed the card by stamping the sentiments from the Solid Gold Stamp Set with Versamark ink and heat embossing them with white embossing powder.

My final card uses the Hero Arts Wishing You Stamp & Die Set. I stamped the images with Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder before cutting them out with the coordinating dies. I colored Mr. and Mrs. Claus, along with the banner, using watercolor markers. After creating a card base from green glitter cardstock, I added a panel of patterned paper before arranging the die cuts. Although this is primarily a Christmas stamp set, many of the elements could easily be used for other occasions. One idea would be to use the banner and the first part of the sentiment to say “Wish You a Wonderful,” then add “Birthday” with a die-cut word in a different font.
