Two very different results easily created by shopping my stash

Shopping my stash! This is a new series I would like to start here on my blog for one post a month. I don’t think I am alone in having goodies in our stash that we have never used. Sales and clearances come up and so items find their way into our stashes and that is where they stay. Today I took out the Spellbinders Mini Color Block shapes. I have the triangle, the cross, the square and the petal.

My first project is a card. Using a darker and a brighter shade of five different colors, I cut the background shape and the framed shape out of each of the shades in order to create enough triangles to form a geometric pattern on the front of the card. I created a cardpanel that was 4×5.25 inches and covered the entire panel with the triangles and then cut the shapes hanging off the edge to give the continuous look.

I added the colorful panel to the front of a side-folding A2 notecard with my trusty Scrappy Tape. The card was completed with a “thank you” sentiment using the Spellbinders Everyday Sentiment with the shadow cut out of black and the word out of white. This pops really well against the colorful background.

The little shapes are also the perfect adornment for the Outreach Coins, an ongoing project. Here are a few of the examples that I have made with some of the shapes. These dies are perfect for use in the little Spellbinders Scout die cut machine. I finally took the plunge and it is such a bonus – great for crafting on-the-go and also for when one needs just that one die cut to complete a project.
