Today I am here to show you two cards that I made with the embossing folder from the new Spellbinders Winter’s Grace collection. This is a gorgeous 3D embossing folder called Norwegian Rosemaling. In order to get the full effect of the embossing folder, I made two 5×7 cards and got a little inky in the process.
I decided to try my hand on these two cards in making a dark background for my cards. I do love the look, but don’t do it a whole lot. For my first card, I used a dark royal blue cardstock and embossed the cardpanel. The 3D embossing is truly beautiful with the different depths of the paper. But I did want to show the nuances of the design off a bit more and so I inked the highest level with Picket Fence Distress Ink. Suddenly the design popped.
I added a blue and silver poppy using Yana’s poppy die (which I have shown before) and added a “hello” sentiment cut from silver cardstock on a vellum shadow using the Spellbinders Thanks Enclosed sentiment die set.
Using the Spellbinders Winter’s Grace on brown
My second card is made in a very similar way except that I used a dark chocolate brown cardstock for my background. I again added Picket Fence Distress ink to the top peaks of the embossed image. I completed the card with another poppy that was cut from white cardstock and then inked in yellow and green. The sentiment is from the same die set as the previous card completes the card.
This is a lovely embossing folder and it can be used alone or as a complimentary background to a focal image.
