Crafting a Vibrant Card with Spellbinders Garden Buddies

Good morning my blogland friends! Today I have a project with a cute gnome from the Spellbinders Garden Buddies die set which is part of the new Out & About Scout Collection. Spellbinders has launched a mini die cut machine called Scout and this collection of dies is designed to work in the small die cutting slot. The design of this card was heavily inspired by Tina of Cards and Coffee Time.

Creating with a Color Palette

I recently rediscovered my color palette book called “Practical Color Combinations: A Resource Book with Over 2500 Sample Color Schemes”. Paging through it is such fun as it has a 250 color palettes in it. I am a bit old school – I do like a book rather than a digital color palette app. Finding one of the pastel palettes, I used it to choose my outfit color for the gnome and the colors for the background layers. I cut the pieces and added some ink prior to gluing the parts together.

To create the card, I first dry embossed the card panel with the Spellbinders Tile Reflection 3D Embossing Folder. Using the Spellbinders Essential Stylish Ovals, I cut three sizes from different shades of pink cardstock. I used a die two sizes larger than the biggest pink oval to cut an oval from vellum. Using an old wood block stamp from my stash that provide distressed lines, I stamped the vellum with Versamark ink and heat it embossed it with white powder.

I layered the three pink ovals on the vellum one and added it to the cardpanel. I then added my little gnome in the center of the ovals. The cardpanel was adhered to the front of a top-folding notecard. I completed the card with a sentiment declaring “You’re the coolest” which comes from the “Stay Cool” House Mouse stamp set.

Thank you for visiting with me today and I look forward to showing you another project done with a die set from the Out & About Scout Collection.
