Fairy Garden Die Set

Today I am here with a bit of a different coloring post. I did not use my pencils, but rather my Arteza Brush Markers and inks. When I came across this die set from Whimsy Stamps some time ago, I knew I needed those toadstools. They are layering dies, so perfect for creating great visuals. The fact that there are 4 little fairies in the set too, cannot hurt.

I created the background for my card panel with Distress Oxide ink and a cloud stencil that I cut myself from a scrap of cardstock. I used a seperate piece of cardstock for the grass, using two different greens to make the bottom a little darker than the top. I cut the grass edge along the top with the die in the set and also two small openings by partial die cutting so that the toadstools could slip in behind the grassy edges. I cut all the toadstool pieces out of white Bristol Smooth cardstock.

The large toadstool has two additional pieces to create one that shows the under side. I decided to use them for this card. So I colored the stems and the underside piece with two shades of brown and pulled the color out with a waterbrush pen. I colored the caps with two shades of red and again used my waterbrush pen to blend them and lighten the shade towards the edge. The Bristol Smooth is great for this sort of blending, one just has to go carefully with the water, so a waterbrush pen is the perfect tool for that rather than a paint brush.

I completed the card by assembling the toadstools and adding them to the card through the slots I made for them. I glued the grass flat to the card base, but popped the tops of the toadstools up on foam tape to give them a bit of sloping dimension. I added the die cut fairy from the same die set and added the sentiment by using two different sentiment die sets.
I have created a marker combo chart for you as a freeebie. Please just follow my blog if you wish to download it.

  1. Monica, those earbuds look gorgeous and your coloring is amazing. I perfectly understand why you decided that you must have these dies. The sweet fairy has found a nice place to rest 🙂
    xx

  2. Those mushrooms are gorgeous and well worth the effort and die purchase. It's tough to find mushroom stamps or dies that look like these, like I think they should, lol. Beautiful work on the background and on the mushrooms. xoxo
