Today I have something different to show you. I recently participated in an online card summit and one of the presenters, Daniel West, did a class on Storybook Coloring with Copic markers. Well if you follow my blog, you know that I am not a Copic girl. But I decided that there should be some way for me to use his instructions and do it with my pencils. These cute stamps drawn by Conie Fong Art were the perfect images to play with.
I printed them out onto Canson Mi Tientes paper using my Silhouette Studio software to resize the digis and create the cutlines. I do this by using Silhouette Studio’s print and cut feature. Once the image is colored, I cut the image out with the Silhouette as the page has the registration marks on it for the print and cut to work. Since this image has no offset, I ran a black marker around the cut edge to finish it nicely.
The class in the summit created one layer cards, masking the stamped image prior to doing the inked background. But because I needed to use a toothy paper for my pencil coloring, especially to get the washed out look that is storybook coloring, I needed to print the image on a different paper than the smooth cardstock of the card base. So mine are not truly one layer.
I used Post-It tape to mask the edges and inked the two cardbases with Memento ink. I stamped the sentiment in Versafine ink and then glued my cutout gnomes to the cardbases without any dimension.
I love how these turned out and it was the fastest pencil coloring I have ever done as there were no layers. Just a single lay down of color. I have a color combo sheet for you to download, please just follow my blog if you wish to download it.
