It is time for another challenge between myself and BożenA and our theme is “Travel”. It could be any form of travel, both physical or metaphorical. Although I chose the theme this time and I did know what route I wanted to take with it, it took me a while to find some inspiration for how I was going to show what I had in my mind. But it was year end and such times come with many other distractions and so in general, my crafting table was not busy.
Anyway, back to our project. I decided to create another page in my art journal for this one.
My thought was about the road we all travelled this last year – the one called Life. We all are on it at various places and we all started and one day the road will end. So how we walk it is so important for ourselves and those around us.
I had spent time looking for a digi that depicted what I wanted, but could not find one. So decided to go with die cuts. The girl is parts of a Spellbinders die set and some circles from the Hero Arts infinity die set.
I prepped the page on my disc bound journal by taping it to my glass mat. This served to hold it steady and also create the white border. I hand drew the path and the horizon line and then colored them with my Arteza brush markers and water. The path is stony as you can see, life’s path is often that way. But there is grass on the sides and flowers to smell along the way. The sky is done with Distress Oxide ink brushed on with some inexpensive make-up brushes over a stencil shape cut out of cardstock.
I created the girl by cutting the various parts out of watercolor paper and colored them with my Arteza brush markers and Prismacolor colored pencils. Details were added with a gel pen.
I completed the page by adding the word Life cut with my Quickcuts dies and the rest of the sentiment was printed and cut into strips. I added a die cut bow cut out of purple cardstock to the girl’s hat and coated it with Wink of Stella.
As always, I am excited to see what

A beautiful, allegorical page in your journal. You are absolutely right that although we all walk our own path through life, our paths are tangled and we must also be careful with other people as we go through life. Your rocky road is not that hard when there are so beautiful flowers around and a wonderful blue above us. Life is our journey, and the goal is to connect with the Creator. Only no one knows when his path ends.
Monica, thank you for this amazing topic and for your diary page and the wonderful message it contains.
Hugs,
BożenA
You made a brilliant page with your dies and love the sentiment

A most beautiful page Monica, and gorgeous colours, love all of this. xx
Monica, I hope life is going smoother for you in your new location, time to breath and relax if you can.
Your journal page is just stunning, I love all the elements you added and your sentiment is beautiful. You should enlarge this and frame it, for a wall hanging, just fantastic, hugs, Lori m
A beautiful page. Looking back at our daily lives the walk of life always has footprints beside us that we don't see. [Bunny]
Monica, i love love LOVE this page! So appropriate for you, too! I agree that our journeys come in so many different ways and opportunities – it doesn't matter who we are, what our capabilities — there is a new journey every day! Wonderful creation! hugs, de
Monica! Well, I love everything about your page and also enjoyed reading where your head was at when making it. I am the same way a lot, struggling. I used to spend too much time trying to think up the perfect idea, but when I thought about it, I began just using the first good one and going with it. I switched to trying to think of it all as practice, and it helps me. xoxo
I love this SO MUCH, Monica. Your die cut girl is adorable walking down her beautiful (though stony) path. I love the bright happy colors you've used because that's the way I think of our amazing time here on earth. I have started an art journal myself, but I just don't work on it enough. I looked at yours and am inspired to revisit my journal. Yours says a lot about your optometric, positive outlook. Hope you are staying safe. We just got our first vaccine this week! Yay!!! xo
