The little red wagon

I cannot believe it is November already and here I am with another project to show you today. It is time for another Progressive Challenge at Outlawz and this month our sponsor is Hetty Clare Art and the image is called Moving House. I was asked to join the Progressive Challenge Design Team and since I play along every month anyway, I agreed (although I am reducing my design team obligations for the new year – more on that later).

I loved this cute image, but it spoke more of life to me than to moving. We all have our own little red wagon to pull through this life, some of ours are nearly empty and some are piled high with baggage. And that state of the wagon varies throughout our lives. Despite a fully loaded wagon, we possess the golden key to our own happiness and contentment by our ability to decide what we keep in our wagon. OK, enough philosophy now, back to my project!

I sized the image in Silhouette Studio after removing the wagon string from the image with GIMP. I wanted to replace that with real twine. I printed the image out onto Canson C’ a Grain Drawing paper and colored it with my Prismacolor colored pencils and some gel pens. I cut it out with my Silhouette after I had colored it and ran a black marker around all the cut edges. I also created a shadow that I then cut out of vellum.

The background paper is a digital paper from the Flower Power paper pack by GeckoGalz. The vellum shadow helped to mute the paper a little around the image so that it would pop some off the background without hiding any more of the pretty paper. I added the twine to the cart and her hand and then glued the elements together before adding them to the cardpanel which in turn was glued to an orange cardbase. The sentiment is computer generated, printed and cut out.

    Lovely card! Fabulous colouring on your image, Monica and I like the red twine pulling the cart.. I love the symbolism you place in 'pulling a little red wagon' – that is so true!x

    Monica, this is so sweet! Great background paper and wonderful coloring. I have mine printed but haven't yet found time to color it or do anything by way of planning my card design. 😀
