Mila

Time for another challenge over at the World Wide Open Design Time Challenge blog and here is my DT inspiration project. Julia Spiri is the resident sponsor of our challenge. I love Julia’s images and this one is no exception. This lady’s name is Mila and her scooter is such fun. 

I imported Mila into Silhouette Studio so that I could create a cutline for her and resize her according to the size of my card by creating a 4.25×5.5 inch rectangle in the software and then importing her into it. I wanted her to not cover the background altogether, but still be large enough to be a very specific focal point. Once that decision was made, I printed her out onto Daler-Rowney Drawing paper and colored her with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I used the tooth of the paper to provide the texture of the tires.

Once I had colored her, I returned her to the Silhouette to cut her out. I cut her shape out again out of black cardstock. Once I had both shapes, I cut the shadow off my colored image’s wheels so that the black cardstock shadow would be more visible. I ran my black marker along the edge of my colored cutout and then glued it to the black cardstock version. Once done, I added her to my cardpanel which is an offcut of patterned paper that I had in my stash. I then stamped the sentiment with a stamp from the Hero Arts Acts of Kindness stampset with Versamark ink and embossed it with white detail embossing powder.
