Today I am back with another challenge between BożenA and myself and this time it was my turn to choose a challenge topic. I decided to go with a technique this time and with one that I have been wanting to try for a while – the eclipse technique. So here is my project.
I recently shared a watercolor project that I did after discovering that my new printer can indeed accommodate watercolor paper and this is the second digi I had printed out on that page. I used my Arteza Real Brush pens to color this image and different to the other one, I did not use any water for these tulips, but rather blended the markers by using only marker ink. I used three colors for the flowers and two colors for the leaves and stems. I finished off the coloring by adding some light grey to the background. This is just one color shaded with itself by applying a second layer of ink to some areas.
Once the coloring was done, I decided where I wanted my large word and cut it out with alphabet dies. I also cut the letters out five more times out of thin black cardstock. I ran a black marker along the edge of the letters that I had cut out of my card panel. I then added the cardpanel to a piece of heavyweight black cardstock and added it to a white cardbase. I added the two orange strips to the side and then stacked the letter die cuts and added them back to the space. I like that the letters are raised on black cardstock, it defines them a bit from the colorful image.
I completed the card by added the word “for” which I stamped in Versamark ink and covered in fine detail embossing powder.

This is beautiful. I love the water colorinbg on the tulips. I have those paint pens, but have never used them yet. This gives me some inspiration.
Very nice job on the flowers and the eclipse, Monica! I did that the other day on my get well card and also used black layers, then I totally forgot to even mention what I'd done, lol. I've always had a problem remembering what to call it because I see it as intarsia, a woodworking technique my Honey always wanted to learn. There used to be these Grandy's restaurants and all of them were decorated with intarsia wood art. By the way, I splurged a few weeks ago and bought the entire set of the Zig Clean Color Brush markers. I've been playing with them and really like them. It was between them and the Arteza, and I'll admit, I always give weight to if Blick carries them individually, which they do the Zigs. I leearned the hard way with my alcohol markers, lol, always be able to buy a replacement if it's a color you love. That, and my Zig Writer pigment markers are still going strong after over 15 years! Gasp! XOXO

WOW Monica !! Amazing card! Probably one of your most beautiful! So amazingly designed with this gorgeous tulip bouquet and hot orange colors. I also love how you highlighted the YOU inscription in black, thanks to which it is quite clearly visible. I am delighted with your card! Thank you for this great fun, this topic was really wonderful.

Monica, this card is incredible. Your water coloring is beautiful and I never would have thought to put water color paper in my printer. It opens up a whole new world! The technique you used for your letters looks wonderful on your card. You are a technique wizard!!! xo Nancy
