A challenge with a goldfish on a card

Today my crafty friend BożenA and I are presenting our projects for the ongoing challenge we have between us. It was her turn to choose our topic and she suggested that our project needed to include a goldfish on a card.

I knew immediately what I was going to feature on my card. I had purchased the Lovely Layers Fish die set from Honey Bee Stamps a while ago and it was perfect for this challenge, but I wasn’t sure how I wanted to use the fish on my card. That was until the idea struck me to make a watery “snow globe”. Using the globe from the Simon’s Snow Globe die set, I created a shaker element for my fish to live in.

I cut the outer rim from holographic metallic cardstock and the base from brown cardstock and applied a bit of ink to the ridges. I cut the fish from white cardstock and colored it with my Copic markers. Using a piece of patterned paper with bubbles on it, I added a background to my aquarium. I added some teal colored sequins to the shaker element before adding the transparent front to it.

Using the Lined Corners 3D embossing folder from Spellbinders, I created a 5 x 7 card panel in a dark blue color. I added it to a cardbase and then placed my fish in his aquarium on the front. The card was completed with a die cut sentiment saying “you are perfect” cut from the Woodland Tales Sentiments die set.

I hope you will visit BożenA to see her goldfish on a card for this challenge. Please leave her a comment while you are there and I will see you next time.

  1. Hello Monica!
WOW! I fell in love with your card at first sight. You chose the perfect colors; they complement each other perfectly and highlight the goldfish. The idea of placing the fish in a snow globe is simply brilliant. I love this card, and your interpretation of our challenge is wonderful. Thank you for sharing, and I look forward to your choice of theme for the next challenge.
    WOW!
    xx

  2. This is now a ‘sharp’ card. Brilliant! I like the idea, the colours, the shaker, the aquarium…. all of it. And the sentiment is great too. Lovely card. 🙂

  3. Sorry, I have to do a second comment. This card is just so cute!
And I wanted to mention especially the blue background. I love it.
