Waffle Flower Postage Collage Rose Stencil

I recently had a bit of extra time to spend in my craft room and so I was able to sit down and try out the Waffle Flower Postage Collage Rose Stencil. I have the die and the base set and I have already crated with them – you can see my blog post called New Crafty Goodies. In that post I made Christmas and everyday cards. Now we are making roses. I made three different cards, in very different colors.

The first card is a pink one. In this one I used all three layers of the stencil as they were intended. The With Love is a sentiment that is in the final stencil, so it is completely flat when added. I thought that was quite a nice feature provided by the stencil set.

Once I had stenciled the roses, I used the Postage Collage Die to cut the postage shapes and then stamped the franking on with the Postage Collage Stamp Set. This adds a sweet detail. I then added the stamp panel to a pink cardpanel before adhering it to a top-folding landscape A2 notecard.

Teal roses with some tinsel

The next rose color I tried was a teal. I used a gray ink for the leaves and then used Versamark ink on the final stencil for the sparkle and heat embossed them with an iridescent embossing powder. It is subtle, but pretty in real life.

I again cut the panel out with the coordinating die and added some franking with the stamp set. For this card I used the on of the pre-printed sentiments from the Subsentiments Hugs Diecut. These sentiments are printed in toner and can be foiled with toner foil. Using my Minc Machine, I foiled the sentiment in rose gold foil and then added it to the card with foam tape strips.

A bit of gold added to the yellow roses

My final card is done with yellow roses. I again stenciled the final layer in Versamark ink and used Ranger Princess Gold embossing powder. I love this gold color. It is in my opinion, the perfect gold – not too yellow and not too dull. Once I was done with the stenciling, I cut the panel with the Postage Collage Die and added the stamping in Versafine Onyx Black ink.

I used another subsentiment on this card, this time from the Subsentiments – Thanks Diecut set. I foiled it with the same Rose Gold toner foil and added it to the card with foam strips. I added a “to” die cut from the Spellbinders Favorite Font die set.

Some other tools that help with stenciling

For stenciling these sort of intricate stencils, I still love my mini ink daubers. They are able to blend, pounce and get into small areas. I have one for each of my Distress Oxide Ink colors. Additionally, I also used the Waffle Flower Mini Stencil Mat which is a great tool for lining up the corners of the paper and the stencil. I have since invested in a Waffle Flower Grip Mat which is also a great tool and while it may be overkill, I find that I get great, lined-up results when using the two together. The corner of the stencil mat gives me a corner to line everything up into and the grip mat holds it in place.

I am still in love with this sweet postage collage collection and will definitely be doing some more with it when I get into my craft room for a bit of time again.
