Embossing Powder Flowers

Hello crafty friends, I am back today with another card that is my project for the ongoing challenge with BożenA. This time it was my turn to stipulate the theme and I chose to use a Christine Stokes video for inspiration and create a focal point with embossing powder.

I did not have a die with wells like she has in her video and so I just placed the powder in circles on the parchment paper and then ironed it. Once it was cooled enough, I die cut the embossed circle in the parchment paper with a daisy die from my stash, lining up the golden center with the center of the die. I made two such flowers.
Using a Spellbinders die, I cut the “foliage” out of white cardstock and a glitter gold washi tape sheet and stuck the parts together. I then glued the stems onto the back of the flowers.

I made a background by blending three Distress Oxide ink colors together on Bristol Smooth cardstock and added the card panel to a kraft cardbase. I arranged the flowers and foliage on the front of the card.

The card was completed with a little die cut butterfly and a “hugs” sentiment.

I am excited to see what BożenA has come up with, I am sure it will be great. Please take a moment to visit her post and see and leave her a comment while you are there.

  1. Such pretty vibrant colors you've achieved on your design! The smooth blending and the glittery accents really make this stand out beautifully! Came her from BozenA's blog to see your creation for the challenge. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. Monika, your creativity is limitless. Who would have thought to cut a design out of molten enamel? You did a great job with the lack of an openwork die. The colors of the flowers look absolutely stunning against this wonderful background. Thank you for this challenge that was far from my comfort zone. But the vision of my card was an epiphany, and as it turned out, our cards were created on the same day. I love it! I hope to announce our posts for the next challenge soon.

  3. Wow! What an innovative use of fun supplies, Monica, and a fabulous outcome with those amazing colors. Although they appear to be from your Ft. Myers tropical theme, they are also perfect for the desert during a sunset or sunrise! Whod'da thunk you could combine the two! Beautifully done, my friend!
    hugs,
