I am excited to have been invited to participate in a few collections of the September release at Spellbinders and so here I am with the Nordic Ornaments from the Winter Tales collection.
I have had the privilege of visiting Norway twice in my life, once in summer and once in winter. So this collection brought back many happy memories. The set has two ornaments in it together with the pieces for the accents on the ornaments and the topper piece. I made the thin ornament in traditional red and green and did some paper piecing. I cut the ornament base out of fun foam and glued it to the back of the ornament for dimension. I added the focal point to a white panel that I embossed with the snowflake embossing folder in my stash. The card was completed with a small Spellbinders sentiment die.
The second ornament in the set is a more rounded one and for this one I opted to go with a sugar cookie look that is also traditional in the Nordic area. I again did some paper piecing with red, green and kraft and cut the topper from silver metallic cardstock. Using the same embossing folder and sentiment die as previously, I completed the card. I added some gold DMC embroidery thread to each ornament.
I will be sharing two more Nordic themed projects from this collection.
