Here we are in November and November is Epilepsy Awareness month. Epilepsy is a truly debilitating condition and yet so few really know about it. When I still made teddy bears, I used to make a special awareness bear every year that donated a large part of the proceeds to various foundations.
This was the 2016 edition. Each bear was numbered and had the hero’s name on the foot and their initial on the cape. I decided that this year I wanted to do something again to help raise awareness. Enter the Brutus Monroe Pumpkin Pals die set. When I saw this set, I knew I had to have it – I mean look at him with his arms and legs.

I created the purple leaves with the Brutus Monroe Stencil for October and Distress Oxide ink. Using a grass edge border die, I created a stencil to ink the grass, also with Distress Oxide inks. I cut the pumpkin from purple cardstock. Purple is the epilepsy awareness ribbon color. He got a face, arms and legs and an encouraging sentiment cut out of purple foil cardstock. I added some shadows under his feet with a brown colored pencil.
I added the cardpanel to a purple matte and then added that in turn to a white top-folding cardbase. I have made a few of these cards to send to children with epilepsy. They definitely can use a bit of encouragement along the way.

Hi Monica!
Your teddy bears are so amazing! You have a great talent to make them so professionally. I admire the idea and the execution.
But your card is so sweet! Again, it turned out that you are a wonderful person because you thought about sick children. I'm sure they'll go crazy for a card like this 🙂 You're gorgeous, Monica!
