Mother’s Day

It is Mother’s Day tomorrow and since my Mom reads my blog, this is my social distancing way for sending a card and flowers this year. Mom, I am hono(u)red to call you my Mom. When times change again, you will get this card with the teddy and her pretty orange and yellow tulips.

A little bit of detail about the card. This is another card that I made by combining the shape of the digi with an oval and merging the shapes to cut the digi out with the shape. The digi is Bella sending you smiles by Conie Fong. I printed her out onto Canson C’ a Grain Drawing paper and colored her with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I then returned her to the Silhouette to complete the cut. I cut the shape a second time out of white cardstock and ran a black marker along both edges before gluing them together.
The card is a top-folding cardbase. I added the piece of patterned paper from my stash to the right hand side and then cut a piece of white cardstock to 4.25×5.5 inches and trimmed the right hand side with a Spellbinders die. I did some partial embossing along the bottom and then added a strip of glitter washi tape where the embossing ends before adhering the white piece to the card.

Using a Hero Arts die, I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink and then glued Bella to the card to complete my project.

  1. Oh, Monica !!
Your mother will be delighted! In this card you have managed to contain so much love and gratitude. Your mom will see it right away. I love this bear 'sweet girl with an armful of flowers. And coloring … perfect, as always.

  4. I'm amazed once again at your die cutting machine skills, Monica. The merging of your image to the die cut shape is an awesome technique. Your image is colored so beautifully and I love the card base with the pretty Spellbinders die cut border. Your mom will love this! xo Nancy

  5. So sweet and clever! I never did master the Silhouette, but I have great admiration for those that do. Your mom is indeed a lucky lady to have you for her daughter and I know she will love your card even more in person!!

  6. Your mothers day card is fabulous, Monica! I love the contrast between the patterned paper on the inside against the white on the outside. And what can I say about your bear colouring? – it is simply sensational! I did buy a 60 set of Polychromos and some Canson a grade card, but (you've guessed it) I haven't had time to play yet. No doubt I'll have questions for you when I start.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful project with us at the Crafts Galore Encore “Anything Goes” April Challenge. Good Luck and hope to see you here again soon!
