Interactive Intercontinental

Time for another challenge between my crafty friend BożenA and I and this time I got to choose the theme. I chose an interactive card as that would indeed be a challenge for both of us. I had previously seen a pop-up panel card done by Jennifer McGuire and so I decided that that would be the perfect technique to try here. While her’s was a birthday card, I decided balloons work for encouragement too.

I cut the balloons with a Hero Arts infinity die set and then inked them with Memento Dewdrop inks. The background is made with a Power Poppy stamp set with one of the geraniums stamped repeatedly with Memento ink on white cardstock. It made a subtle, yet lovely background. I then arranged my background balloons on my panel and adhered them to it. I created the pull tab mechanism as per Jennifer’s instructions and heat embossed my sentiments onto the two focal point balloons and then added them to the pull tab mechanism. You can see the card with the pull tab in and pulled out in the two photos here. I completed the card by adding the panel to a top-folding cardbase that I had colored the edges of with a black sharpie.

This is my first interactive card I have made like this. I learned two things – complete the rounding of the corners on the tab before writing anything on it and that I need more practice drawing balloon strings!!

  1. Hello Monica,
your card is wonderful. I love these pop-up balloons, they are so joyful, so desirable in these hard times. I also love the floral background, these balloons stand out beautifully on it. Thank you so much for having fun together and for choosing a topic. I must admit that it was a real challenge for me 🙂

  3. I've been watching Jennifer McGuire on YouTube on the treadmill since I've been stuck at home. You did a beautiful job on this pop up. Fabulous inking on your balloons and pretty background. Really fun card! xo
