Thank you for 2019

Here I am with my last blog post for 2019. It is hard to believe that this year has flown by so fast. I have had many life changes this year and I look forward to some more in 2020. Thank you all for joining me on my creative journey.

I recently visited the Imagine That Digistamp shop and somehow the digi set of little Ladybugs got themselves into my cart in addition to the other items and so I just had to color up one of them. I love this little one with the daisy.

I sized the image in Silhouette Studio so that it would fit well onto a notecard. I created a cutline around the digi and then added a small offset so that it would have a small white outline and that the antennae would cut out well. I then printed the little guy out onto Canson C’ a Grain Drawing paper and colored him with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I added some brown gel pen to the center of the flower. Once colored, I returned to the Silhouette to cut him out.

I did not want to add much more to my card to overpower the sweet image and so kept it simple with a embossed background and a simple sentiment die cut out of black cardstock and then coated with Wink of Stella. The panel was then glued to a white top-folding notecard.

  1. This is a super cute digi, Monica, and I'm always amazed at how you can cut it out so perfectly on your Silhouette. I know how to do it in theory, and have actually accomplished it on my Cricut with your instructions, but I'm just not patient enough to make a habit of it. Your pencil coloring is always so perfect. And thank you so much for the darling Christmas card you sent me! It's absolutely beautiful. I love the image and your designs are always lovely. I plan to return the favor soon after all the Christmas hubbub settles down. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas in your new surroundings. Will you be there long? xo Nancy

  2. I can see how that lady bug "flew" into your cart, Monica – so sweet and beautifully done in your prismacolors! Gorgeously done with a "spotted" embossed background. I loved traveling with you this year in your creative journey, and look forward to keeping you company in 2019, too! hugs, de
PS, I don't know if you are on any DTs now that Traveling is in your daily adventures, but Jan's Digi Stamps has a DT Call here:

  3. This is an amazing card, Monica !! I love this cute ladybug, but it's your coloring that makes it look stunning. WOW! I'm still smiling :-))
I am very happy that I met you in my life, you are a wonderful person and a great artist. Thank you for so much inspiration

  4. I love this card. Your coloring is spectacular. I haven't mailed your card yet. I had it in my purse ready to go and injured my spine again. I will be gettingf an MRI hopefully next week. I already know of two fractures and am afraid I have a third. The pain has been unbearable. Thank you so much for your card. I love it!

  5. Monica this card is so cute, love that little ladybug, coloured to perfection. I hope you have had a great Christmas and just wanted to thank you for dropping in and commenting on my cards all the time. It is so appreciated, all the best xx Aileen

  7. Isn't it strange how images fall into your cart when you're not looking! This happens to me too! This little ladybug is gorgeous and you gave her a perfect embossed, spotty background! xx
