Waiting on the Prince

Today I have another DT project to share with you as the new challenge over at World Wide Open Design Team Challenge Blog as started. If you are a member of any Design Team in the world, you are invited to enter your project. The theme is always Anything Goes and Julia Spiri is the resident sponsor. I love her images.

Today I combined two of Julia’s art pieces – the digi called Waiting on the Prince and a digital paper from her VIP club. You can find a similar one in the Old Rustic Digital Paper collection. I created two squares in Silhouette Studio, one sized at 5.5×5.5x inches and one sized at 5×5 inches. I filled the smaller one with the digital paper and added the princess over the top – positioning her on the right side of the beautiful flower on the digital paper. I added the digital sentiment which comes from the Magical Sparkle sentiment set by We Are 3. I then used the eyedropper tool to choose a color from the flower and filled the bigger square with that color. I then printed the squares and colored the princess on her balcony with my Prismacolor colored pencils and added some details with a silver glitter gel pen.

Once I had colored the pretty lady, I returned the page to the Silhouette and cut out the two squares. I then adhered the top focal panel to the colored cardpanel which I, in turn, adhered to a 5.5×5.5 cardbase. I decided the card was complete as it was and needed no further embellishment.

I invite you to visit our challenge over at the World Wide Open Challenge Blog – where you can see more DT inspiration and enter our challenge to win some of Julia’s images yourself.

  1. Wow! Beautiful card, Monica. I like how you use lots of different "tools" to make your works of art. The coloring in her hair and dress is, of course, impeccably done, as always, and your color choices are amazing! Wishing you a cooler day, although I doubt that is possible at this time LOL hugs, de

  2. I love this image, Monica, and your coloring is amazing. I'm always fascinated by all your clever Silhouette techniques. I'm trying to approach my cards differently in my Cricut now. The sentiment is perfect. xo Nancy
