The Melon

I am back again today with a new project to show you. This is my DT inspiration for the new Colour Crazy challenge. Our sponsor this fortnight is Bugaboo Digi Stamps and I got to work the the “You’re one in a melon” digi set.

I designed my card in Silhouette Studio. I filled a 5.25×4 inch rectangle with the watermelon slice digi and I put the sentiment digi in a circle that I filled with an ivory color. I printed them out onto Daler-Rowney Drawing paper and then cut them out with the Silhouette machine. I colored the watermelon with my Colleen colored pencils this time. I have a set of 24 Colleen pencils that my Mom bought for me when I was still a kid – some of the original ones that were still made in Japan. They were what started my love for colored pencils.

I used the tooth of the paper to add texture to my watermelon flesh. Once I have colored the image, I adhered it to a green cardbase and added the sentiment circle to the top left hand corner.
Colour Crazy is an Anything Goes challenge for any hand colored project. No precolored images or digitally colored images are permitted. But if you have used any medium to hand color your project, we would love for you to enter it. You have two weeks to do so.

  1. Beautiful composition of the card, and ideally ideally for the summer. In Poland we have great heat now and this card is a real refreshment 🙂
