Spring is in the air

This is my second and last project as a Guest Designer for the Cute ‘N Crafty Challenge blog and this time the sponsor is Sherri Baldy and the winner will receive three My Besties images. But the great news is that I was invited to stay on as a full Design Team member and so you will be seeing more of my projects over there.

I am using Doll 1 from the “Spring is in the Air” collection for my project. I printed her out on sand Canson Mi Tientes paper and colored her with my Prismacolor pencils. I have always had difficulty working on this paper with my pencils, but I tried a different technique here and found it to work better. I laid a layer of the lightest shade of each blend down first and then started my dark to light process and that seemed to help create a better blend on the paper rather than just push the pigment around.

After completing the coloring on this cutie, I cut her out with a stitched rectangle die. I cut another rectangle from teal cardstock and glued them down at an angle onto yellow gingham paper. I then glued the panel onto a 5.5×5.5 inch square cardbase.

To complete the card, which I will be using as a birthday card despite the eggs in the basket, I added a sentiment in the top right hand corner, stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink.
Don’t forget to share you projects over at the Cute ‘N Crafty Challenge.
