Look for the magic

Scrappers Delights returned last month with the progressive challenge in the Scrappers Delights Facebook group. Today we start a new challenge for March and you will receive the new freebie if you participated in February. You can also participate on the new Challenge Blog.
I decided that my art journal needed some love and this was the right image to head there with. I created a page for my disc bound journal out of Canson XL Watercolor paper. I smooshed some Memento Tuxedo black ink onto my glass mat and sprayed it with water. I masked off the side of the page with the hole in it and then pulled it through the black ink. I did multiple passes and in various directions to get the visual texture I was after. Once it was dry, I applied the star through a stencil using Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink. I love how the oxide ink’s chalky quality makes it sit on top of the background.

I printed the digi out on Daler-Rowney Drawing paper and colored her with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I cut her out on my Silhouette machine and also cut a second shape out of white cardstock and then glued the colored image onto the white cardstock shape. I also cut a pair of wings out of silver metallic cardstock. Because I had cut her out on my Silhouette, I was able to create the wings to be the perfect size for her in Silhouette Studio. I glued the wings to her back.

I completed the page by gluing her in the star and stamping the sentiment with Versafine Onyx black ink. I defined the edge of the star with a white gel pen.
Remember to head over to the Scrappers Delights Facebook group and join in there.

  1. I love your details on how you make your cards. I bought the sheet to be able to cut my digis on the Silhouette. I haven't tried it yet. I need to get around to some of these things. Very pretty page!

  2. Marvelous coloring on that adorable image, Monica! So glad to hear that the progressive challenge is back. I'll go check it out and get the image for this month.

  3. Your colouring is wonderful. I love my Prismacolors, too 🙂 Interesting way to make a background – I may just have to try that one, lol – thanks for sharing your technique.
Thank you for sharing your art with us at Try it on Tuesday.
