A gorgeous color challenge using dies and inks

Today I am back with a challenge project with my friend BożenA. It was my turn to choose the theme and I opted to create a gorgeous color challenge. I chose the palette below from the Sarah Renae Clark blog and we agreed that white and black could be used in addition to the colors in the palette.

Using a gorgeous color challenge to create a whimsical design

I started out my project by ink blending a background with Tattered Rose, Carved Pumpkin and Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide Inks. Then, using the Spellbinders Beyond the Door die set, I chose colors that best matched the color palette for the door, path, scene beyond the door and the flower pots. I did incorporate white into the foliage in the flower pots and the clouds in the outdoor scene.

This 5×7 card was completed by adhering the inked card panel to a white card base and then arranging the elements on it to create the scene. Using black cardstock, I cut the word “hello” with a retired Spellbinders die set and glued it to the top right-hand corner of the card.

I very much enjoy working with color palettes and I found this gorgeous color challenge especially inspiring. Now I am excited to see what BożenA created for this project, so I invite you to head over to her blog post for this challenge and take a look. Leave her a comment while you are there. I will see you again next week.

  1. Monica, this is one of your most beautiful cards! I was surprised by the design of your card, which makes it even more beautiful. The colors on your card are stunning; the dominance of fuchsia makes it vibrate with energy. I love your interpretation of our challenge. Yes, it’s a unique, beautiful card. Thank you, Monica, for your patience, for the beautiful challenge, and for the inspiration.
    Hugs, Bożena xx

  2. Gorgeous card. I love the colours of this palette and scene with the open door and the openness beyond it. So peaceful and relaxing. An invitation to sit, to ponder, to dream,…
Was nice to see what you both created in this challenge.
    Thank you for sharing.
