Rabisco 1 Year Celebration

I have two blog posts today and this post has two cards! I doubt that has ever happened before. We are celebrating 1 year old at the Rabisco Challenge blog and I made these two cards for my August DT inspiration.

My first one uses an image by Hetty Clare called Birthday Hat. I imported her into Silhouette Studio and sized her to fit well onto a 4.25×5.5 inch card and then printed her out onto Daler-Rowney Drawing paper. I colored her with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I loved this quirky image and decided that this girl would not wear ordinary colors, so she was clothed in pink, purple and lime green. Of course she had to have a chocolate cake (is there any other kind?).

Once she was colored, I returned her to the Silhouette and cut her out. I cut another one of her shapes out of black cardstock. I ran a black marker around the edge of the colored image and then glued it to the black cardstock version. I created a cardbase with heavyweight cardstock and ran the one side of it through my embossing machine with a polka dot Darice embossing folder. Once folded, I added the image and also the word Celebrate cut with a Spellbinders die out of black cardstock. I cut it twice and glued the two together to raise the sentiment up some.

My second card uses the IMG587 Bestie Dolls digi from the My Besties Shop. Again sizing her in Silhouette Studio, I added the hexagon around her. I don’t have any hexagon dies without faux stitching and I did not want stitching around her.

I printed her out on Daler-Rowney Drawing paper and colored her with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I added a little detailed frosting to the chocolate cake with a white gel pen. I then returned the image to the Silhouette and cut her out. I created a second hexagon shape by adding a 1/4 inch offset and cut that one out of textured copper cardstock from my stash.

I glued the two hexagons together, lining up the bottom of the hexagons as I wanted it to line up with the bottom of my card. I used the other half of the cardstock that made the cardbase for my first card here and also embossed it with the same Darice embossing folder. I adhered my girl to the card and then completed it with another sentiment from a Spellbinders die set cut out of the same textured copper cardstock. I also cut 2 versions in white cardstock and stacked them altogether to give my sentiment dimension on top of the embossed card front.

We would love you to pop in on our Birthday Party Facebook Group. The party is going on all month and there will be challenges and prizes. See you there!

  1. Two adorable cake cards! I need cake, especially chocolate cake, right now! The red hair is fabulous, then again I am a little biased coming from a family of redheads!! x

  2. I can't stop adoring the first card. Such amazing coloring …! And tights are a real work of art! They look so realistic that they take my speech away. Your work with prismacolor is stunning
