Hello crafty friends, today I am sharing another post in the middle of the week. I made two 5×7 cards using the Spellbinders Azalea and Garden Pot die set. I have always wanted to play with these flowers, and so when Spellbinders asked if I would be interested, of course I said yes.
Spellbinders Azalea and Garden Pot in the making
This die set comes with the azalea flower, the leaves and the pot as well as a ladybug. I cut all the parts out of white cardstock and for my first card I colored the flowers in shades of pink Copic markers. After coloring the leaves in shades of green, I then painted them with Nuvo crystal glaze to give them that glossy look.
I also was interested to see if one could create these flowers without the specific tool kit, that is available for creating them. So I used items that are already had in my room, bending and rubbing the cardstock to create three dimensional flowers.
For the pot on my first card I used Vintage Photo Oxide ink. I then covered it with Versamark ink and used an ultra thick embossing powder that I had in my stash. This gave the pot a sort of ceramic look. Using a Spellbinders embossing folder from my stash, I created a cardpanel onto which I added my pot of azaleas.
Another card creating the look of Flame Azaleas
My second card was made in a similar way, except that I colored the azaleas in shades of orange and yellow. I did do some Googling and found that there is a Flame Azalea, which I thought was very pretty.
For this card, I used Salty Ocean Oxide ink to color the pot. I again covered it in the ultra thick embossing powder in order to create a ceramic look. Both cards were completed with “happy birthday” sentiments using Spellbinders sentiment dies (linked in the supply list below).
So I am of the opinion, that with some supplies that we already have, one can make these flowers without the kit. Of course, if one does a lot of these three dimensional flowers, the tool kit would be advisable.

I received the Azalea and Garden Pot with Ladybugs die set from Spellbinders in order to create with. I purchased all the other products used in these projects myself.
